Behold! The Sagamore Spirit – A New Rye Whiskey
There is a new rye whiskey sheriff on the block and its name is Sagamore Spirit.
Sagamore Spirit is the brainchild of Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank, and the limestone-seeped water for the whiskey originates from his 530-acre farm, in Glyndon, Maryland, that Plank purchased in 2007 [Sagamore Farm was once owned by the famous – or infamous, take your pick – old money Vanderbilt family]. Currently though, the whiskey is being distilled in Indiana until Plank’s five-acre whiskey distillery opens up in Maryland. Sagamore Spirit is bottled at 41.5% alcohol content [83 proof].
Sagamore Spirit will be available for $40 per a 750ml bottle exclusively in Maryland and the Washington, D.C.-area beginning on May 13, 2016.
