This is an awesome article. I have never been to New York but would be interested in visiting some of these places if I ever get a chance to go. It is on my bucket list for next year but we will see!

I wish to visit New York in the near future as well. The night life is amazing, purely amazing. There are thousands of people on the streets at 1-2-3 AM in the morning, NY knows how to party! :D

That is what I hear from anybody who has been. I hope to find out for myself some day. A bunch of my friends went a few years back. I couldn't get the time off work so I couldn't go. I was so sad. They had a blast. I was so jealous when I seen all the pictures and heard about all the partying they did.

Missed opportunity man, but life goes on! I'm sure you'll have another shot at New York, I'm planning to go soon as well. Where are you located currently?

This was a great article; I am going to save it for future reference, thank you for sharing. When most folks think New York they think New York City the statue of Liberty, Empire State building, World Trade Center, Times Square, bright lights and night life. Rarely do they think about upstate New York; it is entirely different than the big city.
My little town has a population of less than 20,000 with few bright lights and night life. We are a college town so there is no shortage of whiskey and beer. We can travel through the rural area about an hour away and have a much wider selection and about 2 hours to a fabulous casino with many top events going on.
We have gone to NYC several times; once we drove and that shall never happen again. It honestly took us longer to get out of the city in actual moving traffic than it did to get the rest of the way home. I loved NYC for a visit yet I would never live there. We attended several great Mets games; it was disappointing to pay $8.00 for a 10oz. beer of a few choices.

As a fellow New Yorker, I can say that it only sucks living in New York if you are in Manhattan since everything is overpriced and crowded. Since everyone considers Manhattan to be "The City" the outer boroughs are somewhat ignored though they have attractions just the same. Bars in the Bronx tend to be more affordable when it comes to their drinks, for instance.

I am currently on the East coast of Canada so I am really not all that far way from New York. It is just to have the time and money to enjoy a get away there!

There are a few places in this list that I wouldn't mind checking out. It's too bad I'm all the way in California. Our bar scene is so different when it comes to the areas and such. I love how they organized the places in the article by what they would be good for.

NY is the city that never sleeps. The bars don't close and people typically don't go out until midnight or later. It is not common for people to stay at clubs until 4am, then get up and do it again the next night. This was a big shock to me after coming back to NY after living in Boston (the bars close at 2am). Although a lot of my friends aren't big Whiskey drinkers, I have to say my favorite alcohol is by far Whiskey on the rocks. I typically stick to drinking a Makers Mark as I think the quality and price as up to par. However, I of course love a good shot of Jack Daniels.

That sounds pretty much like a description of Las Vegas. Except I've been to New York and people definitely sleep. Out in Vegas people never sleep and I think it might be the oxygen being pumped into the casino haha. Or so the wives tale goes.

I knew that NYC is the city that never sleeps, but I had no idea that the bars never closed. I was under the impression that most places closed at 2am, aside from a few select in the US. No wonder people are always partying. :p

Sounds like an awesome place. I, too, didn't realize that the bars never closed! That is really awesome. The bars close at 2am here too and it seems like you are just starting to have a good time and it is closing time. I would like that no having to leave at 2am.

I remember that feeling. I waited to go into the Empire State Building for what seemed like forever. The view was completely worth it, though. It was a gorgeous view and unlike anything else I'd ever experienced. I probably wouldn't do it again though...

That is something I would like to do at least one time in my lifetime. It is on my bucket list.

New York can get pretty crazy. I'm currently living in Syracuse, but I've been to the city many times in the past. I've never seen a bar there that never closed, although most if not all stayed open until 4 in the morning. I also have not been to every bar either, so of course my word isn't law. The nightlife is exceptional, however I tired of it after a while. There's only so much partying a man can do, and at the time we were going out every night. The final straw for me was going to club called Amnesia. Long story short we drank so much, that on the walk back to the hotel which was 100+ blocks away, my friend repeatedly fell on his face. He didn't attempt to break the fall(s), (yes plural), at all. The result was two of his teeth broke off. Needless to say after that we never went back to the city again. My friend did receive a pair of artificial teeth, so I guess it's not all bad.
