we know you can go there to see bands with names like masturbo, dying fetus, dismembering the architect [and - our personal favorite - candygram for mongo] and mondays are known as "**** mondays" but...

is there any whisky? and if there is any whisky, is it good whisky?

I think there is but I'm not too sure about it. A friend of mine from the U.S goes there regularly and he mentioned whisky a couple of times.

You had me curious about this after I read this post. So I tried googling it and I couldn't find the answer. It is very rare that Google doesn't have the answer.

I have been there many times and they do have whisky there! They have a full service bar, bathrooms on the first floor and a stage for performers. They do have a cover charge most nights and you have to buy tickets to see bands play. It's fun there!

It's pretty fun, Sue! My first time there was in high school. A friend of mine was in a band and her band booked a night out there. It was such a huge gig because it was on the Sunset Strip. A lot of celebrities were there that night too!

I have heard of this place. It is super famous. The name leads you to believe there would be whisky aplenty at the place doesn't it? I should google it too and see what is said about it.

You'd be surprised how incredibly dull The Whisky-A-Go-Go is. I opened for Drama Rama at this venue. It's so easy to land a show here and majority of the time it's random local bands. The place really has lost it's touch.

I believe they do have Whisky, but it's nothing special. Everything they serve there is pretty low quality and boring. It's suuuper overpriced as well, but that's what you get when you go to Los Angeles.

Oh really. I am quite disappointed to hear this. I had imagined that it would be an awesome place with all the hype that it gets!

Most people do, but it's really a very small venue full of local bands. Every once in a while they will have a well-known band come in, but it's usually a "washed up" well known band. For instance, when my band opened for Drama Rama everyone only came for their old song "anything, anything." If you were to take a look at their website, you'd see a lot of bands you never heard of. :(

That is quite surprising. I will have to check out their website and see what it is all about. So what kind of music does your band play?

I am in a melodic metal band called Sirens of Silence. We are a concept band, which means we have a storyline that goes with every song we put out. Each song adds more to the story. :)

I enjoy it :) We don't have any solid music up yet, but we've put up scratch samples here and there on our instagram. You can find our instagram @Sirens.of.Silence - I'll link it below as well. :)

Whisky a GoGo is a legendary bar and live music venue in LA, which was established in 1964, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whisky_a_Go_Go

There are some reviews on the place, all of them talk about pricey drinks, but not specifying it could be whisky among them, http://www.yelp.com/biz/whisky-a-go-go-west-hollywood-2

Moreover, Whisky a Go Go says to be a venue for all-ages, and this make me suppose selling alcohol has to be controlled controlled, if any, http://www.whiskyagogo.com/site/faq/

However the menu has no drinks listed, https://locu.com/places/whisky-a-go-go-west-hollywood-us/#menu

Whiskey a go ago has been around a long time. It has many proponents and is something that is pretty legendary. I think it is something though that has seen better days. It's heyday was no doubt in the 60's.
