It is not just a desire which is sufficient. You really need to put in honest and decent efforts to rule over the urge for tobacco. It requires a very strong will power and self determination to do so.

I think addiction of any type is hard. And people have to be really serious about how things work out. You can see that quitting anything requires some level of patience. And also one has to replace the habit with something else. That's how the habit can be reduced. That's what most people don't do usually.

I think quitting smoking is just like quitting any other habit. It's hard to rewire your mind after developing a habit. My advice, don't quit at once because you will always relapse. It's a process and it might take some time but eventually you will quit smoking completely. Gonto therapy, get a workout routine, anything that works for you. It will always be a battle but it's worth this embark on rather than just lose hope.

Obviously because it's an addiction ? You need a lot of willpower to quit smoking and, as much as you can, try to keep away from other smokers as the smell ( or rather stench ) of cigarettes would likely make you want to smoke again.

Well cigarettes have a physical dependency as well as a psychological one. The nicotine that is in the cigarettes makes you want to smoke more and more. Sometimes there are also problems with quitting because you already made your habit with smoking.

It is definitely a bit of everything when it comes to the dependency and I bet for some it is more psychological and others maybe more physical. Certain times of the day and certain places certainly cause a trigger to go off.

There are many who have done this before. All it requires is just a very strong will power. Any person who has this much strong determination will get over his addiction. The time duration can vary from person to person but victory is for sure.

I think we all have different health. And some people can have health properly even with smoking. But eventually nikotin and other health issues do come into play. So you can see that there are some issues with it.

Smoking is clearly unhealthy, though that doesn't necessarily mean that every smoker will eventually get ill. Alcohol is at least healthy in small doses ( or at least that is a common perception ).

Even if you don't smoke that much, just a cigarette or two per day your health will decrease. There might not be any instant health issues, but in the long term you will probably encounter some problems. And binge drinking alcohol can be even more dangerous than smoking alcohol, as it can lead to physical and mental problems.

Yeah, I know that. As for alcohol, I specifically said "small doses".
Binge drinking is arguably far worse than smoking, as it is going to cause liver failure sooner or later.

Smoking is so addictive, which is a psychological problem. Quitting smoking is not easy since it lies in the decision of the smoker. If it weree a disease that can be eradicated by use of drugs, thennit would be so easy. But since it is psychological, that becomres very difficult.

I would say that nicotine is a big problem when it comes to smoking, and you can become addicted to it overtime and also as your body gets used to it-you would even need more nicotine for you to feel normal. But I would show a bit of willpower when you are trying to stop smoking, because it takes time for the withdrawal symptoms to go away-maybe a week ?

Lot of people try though. So I give it to them. I am sure that those people deserve some credit. But the thing is that not a lot of time things work out. So for each one of us it could be little different.
