Denied On Notorious, Conor McGregor Brings Out Proper No. Twelve
Having been denied a chance to name his blended Irish whiskey Notorious due to trademark infringement issues from the founder of Carlow Brewing Company, who owns the rights to a European trademark of the same name, mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor re-launched his whiskey under the name Proper No. Twelve.
Proper Twelve blended Irish whiskey was created at the Old Bushmills Distillery and derives its name from McGregor’s home neighborhood of Crumlin, Dublin 12.
Proper No. 12 is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume [80 proof] and is said to contain notes of honey and vanilla.
Proper No. Twelve will be available in Ireland and the USA for $30 per bottle, with expansion into other markets planned for 2019.
Additionally, McGregor has pledged to donate $5 from every case of Proper No. Twelve sold, with those proceeds going to local first responder organizations and charities, up to the value of $1 million annually.
“First responders all over the world are the unsung heroes who act with courage and answer the call of duty every day for people in need,” said McGregor. “I have great respect for these men and women.”
