GlenDronach Unveils Its First-Ever Peated Whisky
As the saying goes, there is a first time for everything, and for Speyside distillery GlenDronach, that means peated Scotch whisky. GlenDronach’s Peated is one of a trio of whiskies the distillery has trotted out this week along with a 19-Year-Old Madeira cask strength single malt and a cask strength labeled Batch 5. GlenDronach Peated was aged in ex-bourbon casks followed by a second aging in ex-Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez sherry casks and ultimately bottled at 46% alcohol content [92 proof] with notes of honey and white pepper.
GlenDronach Madeira 19-Year-Old Madeira Cask Finish was aged in European oak, finished in Madeira casks and was also bottled at 46% alcohol content [92 proof] with cinnamon, green apple and ginger notes while GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 5 was aged in ex-Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez casks, bottled at 55.3% alcohol content [110.6 proof] and contains notes of apricot, ginger and vanilla.
