LOL! I too remember the gold-speckled everything from that era. Good lord that was tacky. It lingered on into the early 80s, but thankfully never returned.

The Gin & Tonic (with a twist of lime) is my favorite mixed drink. It is a pretty basic mix, but darn it is good and satisfying. There are variants, but why over think it. :D

It has been a long time since I've seen Leaving Las Vegas, but I do recall it being a strange and dark picture. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas managed to be even more bizarre-o, but it was more drug-fueled craziness.

Have you ever been to places where the liquor laws were really strange and/or draconian? In my travels around the country, I have found some odd ones. The state of Utah, in particular, has some pretty tough laws. And there are dry counties in the South. Any that stand out in your mind...

There is a drink called, I believe, "the torpedo" that is a mix of dark German beer with Schnapps. It sounds disgusting, but it surprisingly has a strange charm to it. I wouldn't say I'd rock them all the time though. ;)

I'm not sure I ever had it. Well, by flavored if you mean the whisky itself being flavored, rather than a mixed drink that includes whisky. I'd have to try it out first.

It must be a generational thing, because I could never really get into rap music. There are a few songs that I appreciate, but as a genre, it is not something I listen to a lot of. I'm more into Jazz, Blues, Swing, Rock, etc.

I don't really change up the beers come fall. And I can't stand pumpkin-flavored beers. Come the holiday season, though, I do make eggnog. But, fortunately, that is a ways off.

I like natural, creamy cigars mainly. I don't like any artificial flavors, any adulterants, or machine rolled sticks. For the price, it is hard to beat Rocky Patel's offerings. A nice Cohiba, while a bit more, are a fine smoke.

For what they are, they aren't bad. And I'm not a big fan of "sweet and fizzy". Still, on a really hot day, they can hit the spot. And it is easier to just crack a can than mix up drinks.
