Hey pals. One of my friends/coworkers in another office sings the praises of a drink called Pálinka. He's Hungarian and, from what I can tell, it is the national drink of sorts there. Anyone tried the stuff? Is it any good? Do you drink it straight or with a mixer? Thanks!

Both are worth a try and they are very classic drinks. Gins vary quite a bit in taste and character, so you might need to experiment a bit. The G&T can be very refreshing. Martinis come in a number of different variants, but I tend to drink mine dry, so they are more on the bitter side. Hope...

Sweet and Milds are indeed nasty little things. One of my brothers used to smoke them. I can't say I'm a fan either.

@lexinonomous, indeed "Little Sump'n" is a good brew. I have it at times. @djordjem87, agreed on the dark beer. I found lagers really go well with burgers and the like.

It has been a long time since I was single, so I can't help there. Though some of my younger colleagues do the bar scene for meeting others of the opposite sex. Some are happy with the nightlife, will many, frankly most, are pretty depressed by said.

Stella Artois has 5.2% and Heineken has 5%. Those are the two I drink the most these days. I'd say around that make about right for a beer.

I'd have to say a Martini. Sometimes I go with my old standby of a Gin & Tonic. At times a good Manhattan hits the spot. But, if I'm out at bar, the Martini is pretty much my signature drink.

I don't much at the moment for a number of reasons: slammed for time, lack of good watering holes around here, and it just being easier to drink a cool one at home or mix up a nice drink after work. I wouldn't mind getting out a bit more once the dust settles though.

Beam is not bad stuff. I don't find myself buying it as much as in years past, but that is more because my boozing tastes have changed, and it is no reflection on the old white label. All and all, it is a solid brand.

Both. Though I don't go out nearly as much as I used to. I know some view drinking alone as some kind of major no-no, but, frankly, if you know your limits and are doing no harm, I do see why it is considered a hard and fast rule.
