Light Beer Or Dark Beer What Is Your Preference?

As for me, I am kind of an amber beer drinker. I usually drink light beer because dark beers are kind of hard to come by in these parts. There is a brand or two sold locally, but by far most of the beer is light. Yes, one of the other joys of living in a rural area. Anyway, what about you? What kind of beer does your palette favor?

I am more of a dark beer drinker. There's nothing more delicious than a dark beer. I enjoy the flavor of darker beers a lot more than the light beers. They are usually a bit more intense, but that's just the way I like them. Every once in a while I will grab something light, but it's usually because I have a random craving.

Light beer most of the time, I don't drink a lot of dark beer simply because it's not that common around where I live, it's easier to get a bunch of light beers.

I really love a good pale ale in the summer and spring. I tend to drink dark beer in the winter and fall. I like to drink dark beer that is room temperature. It taste too bitter if it is cold.

I rarely ever drink light beer, give me an ice cold dark beer which is the ideal thing to whet my appetite. I have noticed that they are now adding various flavors to the light beer.I will now give the flavoured ones a try to see if they would entice me indulge in the light beer on a higher level.

I drink mostly light beer, I really like dark beer but unless I buy it in the store there aren't any other places that will serve it. I don't understand why they don't, it's not as if there aren't people that wouldn't drink it.

It is kind of odd; when I was younger, the darker the better. Now that I am, eh, a gentleman of a certain age, I really like the lighter beers. Pallets change over time, so I suppose it isn't surprising.

This is true, your palette does change over time. There are drinks I liked when I was younger that I don't really like anymore. Rum is one of them. I didn't really drink a lot of it but now I avoid it.

It definitely depends on the situation. If I'm just at home and I want to have a drink after dinner, I might go for a dark beer. If it's a warm summer day and I'm sitting outside in the sun then it's going to be some basic lager or, if it's available, a white beer.

And people have different wines for different foods, I don't see why we can't do the same with beer. :)

I'm all for the light beer. Dark is a cool thing to do but the likelihood of getting drunk with it is way higher, too. Moreover, I'm not into that type of beer.

I prefer light beer because the taste is way better, and I'm already used to it. But the dark beers are also pretty good, I'm all for it, just depends on my mood.

I hear you. When I was in my early 20s, and lived in the subtropics, I drank a lot of different rums. Now, I don't touch the stuff. I'm not sure why, but it just is.

Darker beers are harder to come by here and the selection in certain places in our hometown our slim. However, darker and craft beers are soaring in popularity. Therefore, I'm sure it won't be long before the selection increases. Personally, I like lighter beers and flavored beers when I'm not drinking vodka. That's just my preference. However, I do stray outside my norm pretty often and will enjoy something darker on a menu if it looks interesting. I'm easily tempted by things that intrigue me.

I definitely relate to this, back when I was a teenager I was all about drinking vodka combined with coke or orange juice, I was probably a little addicted. Now that I got a little older I'm going lighter on the alcohol, I've learned to control myself.

It is not a competition. I like both and there are times I really want to drink dark beer and it is usually with one girl that I really liked. She would always order dark beer so I just went with it and ended up having dark beer with my friends.

I can relate to that. I've never been a big Vodka guy, though I did go through a phase in which I drank a bit of it (e.g., Vodka Martinis, Moscow Mules, et al.). I can't say I stuck to it though. ;)

I like pale ale. I am not a fan of dark beer although I have had a few dark ones that I have enjoyed. Usually though I stick with the pale ale they have a smoother taste and not so bitter.

I think I probably prefer light beer. Really, it sounds corny but my general philosophy is "if it tastes good I'll drink it." The darker beers usually have a much more bitter taste though, and I'm not a big fan of bitter. So lighter beers are what I usually end up drinking, but I'm up for anything.

I like Pale Ale a lot and it has more of a medium body with a wonderful pale golden to deep amber color, also it has some fresh fruity and citrus aromas that are nice for the nose. This beer goes really good with food and its a tasty kind beer overall to drink!
