Cheap German Hooch Wins Gold At IWSC
Fancy whiskies vie for recognition among the sniffy, snooty crowd whisky connoisseur crowds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition but it was Queen Margot 8-Year Blended Scotch Whisky which won a gold medal at the competition in London. That a whisky won a gold medal is not surprising, the surprising part is that this particular whisky happens to be a discount liquor common in the German supermarket chain, Lidl. But it’s vanilla, coconut and citrus notes were enough for the judges to award it the gold medal in its blended whisky category.
Queen Margot 8-Year Blended Scotch Whisky currently retails for a mere $23 per bottle – though we suspect the price may mysteriously rise in the near future..
