Create your own Bushmills Whiskey? 4

Following the trend of recent “dream job” announcements, Bushmills Whiskey is offering one lucky whiskey aficionado a chance to work with master distiller Colum Egan and his team for a month to create his or her own blend of Irish whiskey.

As Telegraph.co.uk states:

The winner will spend a month on Northern Ireland’s north Antrim coast, near the Giant’s Causeway, where Bushmills has distilled whiskey since James I authorised it to do so in 1608.

To submit your application, visit their Facebook page. I’m thinking about submitting mine…

PS Many thanks to Matt from Spook Media (on behalf of Bushmills) for letting me know about this.

  1. Student drinker says:

Interestingly, being a poor student who likes whiskey, i was drinking Bushmills when I read this, and raced to the site, only to find out that although Israel is part of the contest area, it is not on the sign up list!

By the way, how about an article about quality whiskey for the poor (student…) drinker?

  2. Martin says:

That’t quite the coincidence. Hm, you do seem to be right, it seems that the offer is open to residents of Israel but I can’t see it in the list either. If I were you, I’d send them an e-mail.

Regarding the article idea, thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have a think about it and see what I come up with. What would the budget of a student be, I wonder? £35?

  3. Gilles says:

Well, £35 sounds like a rather decent budget. Here in France a (normal) student won’t spend more than 20 EUR on a bottle… The one I found to be real good bang for the buck is the Glenlivet 12 y.o.

  4. Martin says:

Thanks for your reply, Gilles. since I generally deal in £ I will take the liberty of converting €1-£1.. So with a budget of £20, hm, should be doable! I’m thinking something along the lines of Speyburn 10 y.o, Bowmore legend or perhaps Auchentoshan Classic. I’ll give it a wee think, and come back with a proper post on it soon! Thanks for the suggestion.
