Is drinking whiskey neat (100-150 ml in one gulp) more harmful than drinking the same amount in the form of watered down pegs (50 ml with 150 ml water)?

Drinking Whiskey neat or (gulping it down) is always harmful. Four things are to be considered when drinking whiskey (1) Diet (2) Delay (3) Dilution (4) Dose (example: not having more than 30-60 ml in one shot) :)

You should take your time with whiskey either way(neat or with a bit of ice or water)I think and enjoy the smells and flavors from a nice tulip-shaped kind of glass, and these are the top of the line(glasses)as far as tasting whiskey goes as well. Also before tasting, its really good to get your nose into the glass and enjoy a hearty whiff as well and try to take small sips at a time to really enjoy.

Exactly, it makes the experience that much enjoyable and lets you discover and enjoy the drink in a more unique way.

Alcohol is meant to be taken in sips and not gulps. I read that if you take Jack Daniels in 1 sitting and you did not vomit it then you could die from taking too much of it. So always go by rule of thumb, just drink alcohol by sips and do it intermittently.

I don't think anything that tastes as good as a great whisky should ever be 'gulped' but I do appreciate your question. I sometimes prefer to take my whisky neat but other times I like it with dilution. I never considered the health consequences before. That's certainly food for thought.

I doubt it, but then again I am always a believer in the law of averages so I just think everything evens itself out. Not really, but more often than not, but this is an interesting one.
