Balblair Distillery has released four vintage Highland single malt Scotch whiskies from its vaults. Released this month will be Balblair 1983, Balblair 1990, Balblair 1999 and Balblair 2003. Balblair 1983 and 2003 have both been matured in American oak casks that formerly held Bourbon and are expected to exude notes of citrus, honey and spice. The pair of 1990s Balblairs were also aged in American oak casks but additionally spent some time in Spanish oak sherry butts and are expected to produce honey and green apple notes.

Bottled at 46% alcohol content [92 proof], the prices for the select group of whiskies begin at $70 for the 2003, $90 for the 1999, $140 for the 1993 and $330 for the 1983.

I could go for any of these vintages, though I'd rather have the 1983 option over the others. Of course, I don't have that kind of money for alcohol.

Haha, yes - those are quite expensive. Still, I think money spent on a good drink is a pretty fair investment. There's nothing like the taste of a good, expensive whisky.

Whisky is definitely one of those things that taste better with age. Good, expensive whisky is so much better and smoother then the cheaper brands. It is well worth the extra money if you are a whisky drinker.

Yep, it's like how wine ages really, really good and it's so much better to drink it after it has been kept for a long time. Whisky is the same, you can really see the difference.

I have had some cheap whisky in the past and the stuff has been pretty bad and rough to get down. If you are going to buy it you got to buy the good stuff otherwise you are just wasting your money.
