Booze .... On A Plane?

So, in times past I had to travel for business a bit. Hated every minute of it. Then security went gonzo and really hated every moment of it. Thank goodness for taking care of business via the web, but I digress.

Question: when you are on the plane and they offer you a mixed drink, what do you order? The pickings are normally pretty slim, but at least you get a stiff drink.

I actually never drink on a plane, even though I don't get tipsy even after a lot of shots of vodka for example. Back in the day I got drunk while on the plane and I forgot my wallet on the airport, I lost a couple of hundred dollars that day plus cards and registration papers. I guess I have "PTSD" now, haha!

Ouch! Yah, losing a couple hundred of bucks will harsh a buzz alright. Sorry to here of the "PTSD", but I can understand why.

That would have been awful and definitely a reason not to drink on planes anymore. I never drink when I am on a plane. Usually if I am on a plane it is involves a vacation so I save the drinking for then. :)

I have only ordered one drink on a plane and that was because I was flying into Canada. I was nineteen at the time and super excited about the fact that I could order alcohol at my age, since we had gone into Canadian territory. I didn't even touch the drink. I ordered a rum and coke simply because I could, but didn't drink it. Silly right? Now, I think I would order a cocktail of some sort or nothing at all. I don't think I'd do well with alcohol in my system while flying.

Sometimes the crew offers you drinks that include alcohol. Of course, they are not trying to get you shitfaced, so the amount of alcohol is very little.

Yah, most flights I've been on they limited the intake quite a bit. Most flights at night, though, offered a limited selection of mixed drinks. Which isn't a bad thing; air travel is annoying enough without a stiff drink.

I have witnessed a guy getting on a flight tipsy and getting wasted on the flight. He was a Hungarian idiot and I actually knew him from my work. He was bothering the whole plane and it was terrible, even more when the flight ended up being not so pleasant and the turbulent period was quite disturbing. We had our oxygen mask in front of us and everything. I remember I wanted to get up and slap him as hard as I could.

Nowadays the large majority of airlines in Europe actually make you pay for alcoholic drinks. Even just beer. And yes, it's ridiculously expensive. So on those flights I'm not having any.

If it's free then I'll probably have a glass of red wine with my meal and maybe another drink or two depending on the lenght of the flight.

The flights I've been on in the US, you have to pay for the booze too. And they typically only accept credit card because it would be a hassle to do cash handling on a plane.

I can only imagine how annoying that would be. You would think that they would know when to cut him off. Personally, I would have made a complaint. People pay a lot of money for plane tickets and dealing with a drunken idiot is not included in the deal. I would be incredibly upset if they over-served someone on a plane. It happens in bars constantly, which is not nearly as upsetting. It blows my mind that people don't know the proper time to cut someone off.

I usually do drink when I'm on a plane. They usually only let you have two drinks, maybe three on most airlines now anyway. However, I will say that you do get a decent drink most of the time, even if the selection is limited. I would imagine for the cost of the drink, which is rather steep, the drink should be of an acceptable potency.
