Does Anyone Know What Country Is Ranked As Having The Best Whiskey In The World?

I mean Scotland is the obvious answer and they do have a number of quality products, but I am wondering what the other contenders would be. It might not be something obvious. It could be Japan or Italy for instance. I am just wondering who is credited for making the best whisky? I am guessing it is pretty subjective though honestly.

It is subjective and you can't really make a ranking system, but the best whisky I've ever had was when I was visiting Sweden with my brother, I didn't have high hopes but the whisky blew me away. I suppose those scandinavian countries know their drinks. :p

It's really hard to rank Whiskey, since everyone has a different judge of flavor. It's really hard to say. Scotland is known for their Whiskey, but I'm sure there are other places in the world that feature phenomenal whiskey selections. You mentioned Japan and honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if their whiskey selection was just as good. Japan seems to do everything well, so I'm not surprised when they have amazing products.

Yes, fuzy I think they do. I am part Swedish, and that side of the family always had a big Christmas Eve celebration, and there was plenty of booze around, including home made grog at times. Those countries that are cold and dark a good bit of the time..tend to drink quite a bit usually for entertainment, and to keep their spirits up.

Actually in 2016 Canada's Crown Royal Northern Harvest was ranked the best whiskey in the world. Last year it was a Japanese whiskey that won the title.

That's how come it's so difficult to rank the best whiskeys producing countries. I had no idea that Sweden produced it's own whiskey. I thought they drank mostly beer and vodka. Live and learn is all I say.

Let's hear it for Canada! Have you tried the Crown Royal Northern Harvest Sue? It sounds like one that would be worth having. I wonder if our local ABC store could order it even? I think Crown Royal products are quite good anyway.

I believe that it would be narrowed down to two countries: Scotland and Ireland. I believe that it seems that Scotland would have the edge because it probably produces more quality brand of whiskey tan Ireland does.

I totally agree that this is subjective and it would be near impossible to create a ranking system that will reflect the truth of the matter. My brother swears that Scottish Leader is the very best whisky in the world...

I think that Japan has won prizes for some of their whisky too, so, maybe places in Asia have great whisky as well. I guess anywhere where the climate favors the growth of corn, or other grains could be a place where dynamic whisky is produced. It could be something to seek in the world. It might be totally awesome.

Yes one of the Japans whiskey makers has won that prize. It was a big shock for the whiskey community but japan has been making whiskey for over a century. It was about time it was recognized as a whiskey making country.
