Food Recipes That Call For Beer

Pizza, burritos or fries with steak, those definitely go well together with beer. Why is your secret recipe so special? :p

Well, it isn't so much a recipe as it is an addition, but pancakes with beer are really good. The pancakes rise..with the addition of the beer, and are thick and fluffy. I like to add light beer...I am not sure how dark beer would be.

I agree with sharing the recipe Molly, it looks like you have a lot of interest here, and also welcome to the forum. We could use all of the posters we can get on here! With beer, bacon and cheese how could it be bad?? lol

The recipe that I use to make bacon, beer and cheese dip is:

- 1 (8 oz.) package of cream cheese
- 1 - 1.5 cups of sour cream
- 2 cups (at least) of shredded cheddar cheese
- Worcester sauce for taste
- l lb of bacon - crisped and shredded
- half can/bottle of favorite beer

I like to mix it all together in a large pot on the stove. Low temperatures work best. It can be served in a dish or a bread bowl. You can also bake it IN the bread bowl, but make sure to wrap the whole thing in foil so you don't burn the bread. My favorite bread to use is sourdough bread, but most bread pairs well.

A bit of beer does wonders to all sorts of meat stews. ;) That's pretty much the only thing that comes to mind though, I can't say I've used been as an ingredient in any other food.

I have yet to find a stew that I liked it in. Most stew recipes that I have tried to make call for Guinness. I think I'd like to try a few different types before I say Guinness is the best. Have you used or had stew with another type of beer?

Yeah the one I usually have is made out of moose and uses a basic lager... pretty much any normal one will do. It's not a main ingredient or anything, just a tiny splash in there to add to the taste.

Aww man I have never ever had some beer battered mushrooms but I know ever since I saw them on the food network I've wanted to try them. I am not too good of a chef so I do not know if I want to attempt to make them myself. I just don't want to ruin it so my neighbors wife keeps telling me that she will make them for me when she has to time. I guess it just hasn't happened yet. I just want a steak dinner with some of those beer battered mushrooms on the side.

Beer batter fish is really good too. I always get that when I go to the local pub for lunch.

Beer battered mushrooms sound really good! Did they fry them or bake them??

One thing I have always wanted to try is a Guiness Float. It couldn't be simpler, you just add vanilla ice cream to Guiness, and it is like a rootbeer float using beer. I have no doubt it would be good. I have had a beer shake before, and it was awesome.

I'm an awful cook... Let me just start with that.

But there's one particular dish here in Portugal that is renowned for using beer in it's recipe, as well as being something you absolutely must wash down with beer.

It's "Francesinha":

I'm sure that you'll be able to find the recipe online if you want to...
But it's pretty much bread, all kinds of meat, and melted cheese on top. The sauce has beer in it.

Other than that, can't really think of anything.
Most of my beer is in a bottle, a can, or a glass :p

Beer usually goes in some meat recipes as far as I know. I use it a lot when I make BBQ for my friends. It moist the meat well and gives it a unique taste and smell. I remember a dessert made from lard and it was very good. I do n0t meat any more but I remember that dessert very well. I still cook and as I said beer goes well with roasted or grilled meat.

Beer is great as a marinade. It makes the meat very tender and gives it a nice flavour. That looks really good drukenduty. I am going to have to go online and see if I can find a recipe for it. I think it would be a hit with my fiance.
