Hangover Help

Our vacation time started Thursday and ends two days after the holiday on Wednesday. We have a full week off with no responsibilities! We started drinking yesterday and already over-did it. We got into a discussion about things to prevent a hangover and remedies for once you already have one. Any suggestions?

Drink a lot of water before you go to bed, that's the easiest way of easing your hangover. Here in Romania we drink cabbage juice and that cures a hangover totally, try it out if you have cabbage nearby. :D

I usually drink some mineral water to help myself out. It usually works. It's the first thing I drink when I wake up and my head aches. So, give it a try and let me know the result here in the comment section.

I absolutely adore cabbage and have some Eastern European heritage myself. I will have to try the cabbage water remedy for sure! We just made a huge pan on stuffed cabbage rolls for the 4th of July. If I would have only seen this post sooner, I would've saved the cabbage water for sure!

As for the mineral water, I have also heard sparkling mineral water mixed with a bit of Gatorade is a good cure, too. I'm definitely going to try them both.

I don't have any good hangover cures, because I don't drink enough to get a hangover. Once I get a bit tipsy that is generally it for me. I hate the feeling of being drunk off my butt, and avoid that at all costs.

The best suggestion I can think of is to stay hydrated. Majority of the terrible feelings of a hangover stem from dehydration. Alcohol is not the most hydrating liquid to put into your body. I tend to avoid hangovers when I drink lots of water throughout the night. Your drunken self may not enjoy the water, but your sober self will thank you in the morning. As for ridding of a hangover, water seems to do the trick as well, but it isn't nearly as effective. Lisa mentioned Gatorade, which is a really great option as well.

Drink lots of water and take a couple of aspirin before you go to bed. I have always found that it helps. I very rarely get a hangover so I guess I can consider myself lucky. I also found that if you drink the same thing all night and not switch it up then you tend not to get hungover.

A lot of hangovers cures are a myth. You'll be told to eat spicy or greasy food, drink one liquor instead of the other, etc. A lot of it has no scientific backing. My best advice is the same as everyone else - stay hydrated the night before. If you wake up in the middle of the night, slam a glass of water. I've also recently taken to taking a couple Ibuprofen before bed. Avoid acetaminophen though, as that's not good when you're drinking.

A lot of people will tell you a lot of different things when it comes to curing hangovers, but take it from someone who's had more than their fair share of them, only water works. If you keep drinking a glass of water between your drinks the night before then you won't even have the hangover. But I tried that and it's darn near impossible...lol..

I tried the drinking a glass of water between drinks too but it just killed my buzz. lol I also didn't like to the taste of water after a few beer. I know people who do it and yes it helps them from having a hangover but it just wasn't for me. I usually have just drink the water when I am done drinking for the night and before I go to bed. It works for me.

I don't really know any hangover cures because I don't drink enough to have a hangover in the first place. I am sure there are different cures for hangovers that really work, but I am not sure what they are. I think you would have to google hangover cure to find out.

Water with lemon or lemon juice directly really helps a lot. If possible try to vomit it out by putting your finger deep in your mouth.
Though this is difficult but it gives instant relief.

One of the best ways to avoid a hangover is to not drink as much in the first place, haha! Seriously though, I'm pretty lucky as I've never really suffered with an hangover, but when I have they have been bad ones and stopped me drinking for a while.

Drinking a pint of water before you go to bed is one of the common cures, and while it won't stop you from feeling bad, it will stop you feeling AS bad because you won't be as dehydrated.

Alcohol causes dehydration, which gives you the hangover effect. Dry mouth, dizziness, and thirst, lead to an electrolyte imbalance. The best thing for you to do is drink plenty of water, and only drink in moderation.
