Ricard, Either You Love It Or Hate It.

Ricard is one of the most popular drinks in France but it does have a strong taste. If you don't like the taste of aniseed you will hate it, but if you do, you will just love it.
Have you tried it before?

I've tried it once before... I wasn't a big fan. I didn't think it was awful but I didn't think it was the best thing ever. I would drink it again though.

Love it! But Ricard is really just a brand, pastis is the drink. And all the brands are good. :p

Ouzo is a very similar tasting drink from Greece, if you like pastis then certainly give it a try too.

Yeah sorry about that it's just that when ever I have pastis it's Ricard I automatically associate the two. I haven't tried ouzo yet though but will one day.

Mastika is similar to ouzo so it is similar to Ricard I believe. Mastika is Bulgarian and Serbian drink and I not crazy about it but sometimes I like to have a taste of it. It is famous for getting all blurred if you drop some water in it so it has been mentioned in some songs in a sense of letting your tears blur the mastika.
This one for example on 1:55 :)

I haven't been to France, but a lot of my friends who have been say that it is the drink to try. I will have to give it a try at my local international market.

While it's certainly more popular in France, you should be able to find it in most places. It's definitely worth a try!

If you like aniseed then you will like pastis. I does have a unique taste but I think it's worth while trying at least once.

I have tried it and I am not a fan of it. It is very popular around here and a lot of people drink it. It just isn't my thing.

I am not sure I ever heard of it. I am familiar with ouozo although I have never had it. I think Ouzo is very strong. I would imagine that Rickard is similar.

Never heard of it, but I'm pretty sure I can get it here in Romania, although I'm not the biggest fan of aniseed.

Ricard isn't that strong it's normally drunk with water were it turns milky white. It does have a very strong aniseed taste and if you don't like aniseed you most certainly wont like Ricard.

I am a fan of anise generally. I love black liquorice. However, there is a certain kind of cookie, pizzelles, that come in both vanilla and anise flavors. I much prefer the vanilla.

I am not familiar with Ricard, but I do love the taste of anise. I wouldn't mind having a hint of anise in my whisky. The bar that I regularly go to has a lot f cocktail options with anise infused into the drink. It's absolutely delicious. I will have to ask next time I go into the bar, if they have Ricard so that I can try it out.
