Or just simply Kozel.

I was drinking that yesterday. It's a Czech beer, probably the most popular one inside and outside the country.

Any fans?
 
I've read about Kozel but since I live in Romania I don't have the chance of trying it out. Is there a way of ordering it here in Bucharest? :D
 
I had a Czech beer one time in Northern Virginia. I don't remember the name of it, but I didn't think it was that great. I am sure that the Czech's have a variety of beers though. I would think most of them are substantial. I think Belgian ale is pretty popular everywhere.
 
I can get the "regular" and the dark variety where I live. I enjoy both but I find myself going for the dark one more often as it's one of the best dark ones I can find for a good price.
 
I haven't heard of Velkopopovicky....but it sure does sound interesting! The name itself has me intrigued. I have had a Czech beer in the past and really enjoyed it, but I haven't touched one since. I never know what to look for when visiting Bevmo. I will look into this and hopefully somewhere local will carry it. I have no problem ordering online, but it's much easier to walk in and find the beer readily available.
 
I never heard of the stuff. Does anyone know if it is imported to the States? If so, is it all markets?

You might be able to get your local beer seller to import it. There is a wine bottle from Germany I like that has monkey's on it I used to see it in Northern Virginia, then I ran across the bottle one time about 10 years later in Richmond.
 
I like tasting different beers from different countries but the only Czech beer I have had is Budweiser Budvar (not to be confused with the American Budweiser), I really enjoy it. Is Kozel a similar beer?

I managed to get my hands on a Kozel and the beer is definitely awesome, god bless European Union. My friends that also tasted Budweiser Budvar told me that the Kozel isn't similar to many of the popular choices in Czech Republic.

Now I'm really curious, I will have to see if I can get my hands on a bottle.

It's definitely good, it may be hard if you live in a country that hasn't adhered to the European Union though, I managed to get it because shipping was free. Have a look on eBay or similar sites.

Portugal does belong to the European Union but it's on the end of Europe. I will have to take a closer look next time I go to the store if I don't find it I will take a look on ebay. Thanks.
 
I still haven't found it but there are still a couple of stores that I have to go to. The selection of foreign beer has reduced slightly and what they are pushing now is ciders, but there are some stores that I know that might have it but I haven't been to that side of town lately.
 
I haven't tried it but I do not doubt it is good because it is the place where beer was made for the first time and I mean Pils type of beer. I also think that the most popular beer there is Pilsner Urquell. That is the first pils ever made and it got the name from the city it was made in Plzen or in German Pilsen.
