Where Do You Rank Jim Beam?

I'm thinking about treating myself to a new bottle...

I'm seeing all kinds of reviews, and most of them have Jim Beam VERY highly ranked.
I find it odd because it's quite cheap when compared to other bourbons...

Are there several types of "Jim Beam" bourbon as far as the quality goes?
Like, is there the "Single Barrel" stuff and then other lower quality types?

The bottle I'm looking at is this one:

I know that there's flavored stuff, but who drinks those?

If there's a higher quality type, is that related to the aging process only?
How do you rank this particular bottle?

It's pretty good, definitely one of the better non-expensive options out there. You should give it a go!
 
I would say this is definitely a good bang for the buck. It is inexpensive but great taste. It definitely ranks higher in flavour to others in its price range. I say go ahead and that yourself and enjoy. I can almost guarantee that you won't be disappointed.
 
I think Jim Beam is a good middle of the road type whiskey. It has been around for many years, so that should tell you something about the quality. If people did not care for Jim Beam, they would not drink it right.
 
I've been reading around...
Here's what I've found out:

The bottle that you see on my first post is Jim Beam Original.
It's whisky made by mixing the content of a lot of different barrels, each with different maturation.
So one barrel might be one year old, and another 5 years old or something, and they just go ahead and mix it up.

While it may be very good, that's not the stuff I was seeing very highly ranked everywhere.

This is whisky made from the content of one barrel only.
That's why it's dated.

I'm going to go ahead and buy the $15 dollar bottle anyway.

Standard Jim Beam is the Budweiser option. It is not bad, but it is not really worth savoring either. I use it more in mixed drinks that I do not want to waste the good stuff on. I also keep it for guests who wouldn't know the difference. No point wasting something more pricey on them.
 
It's not a bad but I think dare I say it Jack Daniels is better. I'm obviously comparing it to JD because they probably the best known bourbons out there.

That's a really good way to put it, except you won't see me drinking Beam in the parking lot of a football game!

Mixed in, can't tell. Solo on the rocks, you're in hell.

oooo..., I can just imagine. Siting on a lawn chair with an sun umbrella, sipping beam on the rocks.
Why not, if your already going to get an earful, go for it.
 
Between Jim or jack I prefer Jim ... But not the run of the mill either the Devils or the signature ... That Devils cut with a bon bon vanilla bean (left in bottle till empty) really good....

I actually tasted the honey whisky and it is so delicious. It is nice and light and goes down easy. I just have to be careful because it goes down so smooth and I tend to go buck wild.
 
I am not very picky so Jim Beam is actually good stuff for me if you consider the fact that I do not really have money to buy the real good stuff like 15 years old Old Pulteney. Okay, I have money to buy it but I really think it is too much and in Serbia we have better stuff than whisky but I don't mind a bottle or two :)
 
I would rank Jim Beam as a decent whiskey kind of in between a Jack and a Jameson's for example. I have no problem drinking it, and it is a well known brand.

That's exactly where I would place it. It's not as well known as Jack but it is creating a name for itself.
 
I was pleasantly surprised with Jim Bean when I finally got my hands on some. It was offered to me at a party and I had always avoided it. I assumed that the stuff was terrible since it was such a popular brand. Surprisingly, Jim Beam was one of the better whisky's I've had. I would definitely give it a try. It's definitely decent and I don't think you'll regret your purchase.
 
Beam is not bad stuff. I don't find myself buying it as much as in years past, but that is more because my boozing tastes have changed, and it is no reflection on the old white label. All and all, it is a solid brand.

That's true our palette is always changing so something that we might not like now you might catch yourself enjoying in a couple of years from now.
 
Jim Beam has staying power and that is something that not all whiskeys have. So, I think it is a quality brand the fact that it has been around for some time. It is just the way that you can get the best brands, by looking at those that have been around for quite some time. They have found their ways into people's hearts.

True that. It has been distilled since 1795, only to be interrupted once during that great big mistake called Prohibition. That's a long last brand, anyway you slice it.
